DESCRIPTION:This training\, organised by NCC Belgium and IBM\, aims to in
 troduce participants to the fundamental concepts of quantum computing and 
 to provide a first practical experience with quantum programming. The prog
 ramme includes:\n \nShort state of the art – “A Quantum of Quantum Co
 mputing”\n\n\nWhat is quantum computing?\n\n\nA brief historical overvie
 w\n\n\nQuantum states\n\n\nQubits\, superposition\, entanglement\, measure
 ment and decoherence\n\n\nComputing with qubits\n\n\n \nIntroduction to q
 uantum computing\n\n\nRefresher on the fundamentals of quantum mechanics\n
 \n\nQuantum versus classical computing\n\n\nQuantum gates: theory and prac
 tical aspects\n\n\nHands-on session: participants will code their first qu
 antum program (EPR pair) and explore additional examples.\n\n\n \nA short
  reception will be held on the 26th in the evening to encourage informal d
 iscussion with the speakers and between participants.\n \nThe training is
  primarily intended for PhD students\, researchers and engineers in chem
 istry\, physics\, and computer science who wish to develop or strengthen t
 heir knowledge in quantum technologies. It will also provide an opportunit
 y to interact with experts and engage with the Belgian high-performance an
 d quantum computing ecosystem thanks to IBM.\n \nRequirements: Basic know
 ledge of Python and notions of linear algebra. Participants must bring the
 ir own laptops.\n \nThis training is organised with the support of the V
 laams supercomputercentrum (VSC) and the Consortium des Équipements de C
 alcul Intensif (CÉCI).\n \nNo-show policy: This event is not held online
