Transport Information

Access to the city of Namur

By Train

Namur is served by quite a lot of train lines. Just take a look at the map of the Belgian Railways. The main lines come from Brussels, Liège, Tournai, Koln, Luxemburg and Paris.

There is now one straight and easy connection to Paris with the TGV (High Speed Train). Other frequent TGV rides are via Brussels (add an extra hour to get from Brussels to Namur by train, which is almost as fast as the direct line anyway).

Trains commute between Brussels and Namur twice an hour, the same from Liège, Charleroi and Mons.

Taxis are also available in front of the station, in case you need to use a taxi to reach the Château de Namur.

For complete journey planning (timetable and fares) visit the Belgian national railways website (SNCB).

By Bus

If you live in the area surrounding Namur, about twenty bus lines can drop you at the train station square. In town, about ten urban lines with frequent journeys allow you to travel within the city very easily.

The regional public transport authority TEC has a website that allows you to gather information about timetables and fares.

By Plane

If you arrive at Brussels International Airport (Zaventem), you can easily reach the train station after exiting the customs : take a rolling staircase at your left and go down to the train station.

Take any train, change at Brussels North for a train to Namur (see national railways website). There are 3 trains per hour, the schedule repeats hourly until 11pm.The fare is 9.20 € for a single ticket (free for children under 12).

If you are arriving from Charleroi airport, at the Ryanair counter in Charleroi airport you can buy a ticket valid for any Belgian destination for 11.90 €. This ticket covers a journey in a TEC bus (from the airport to Charleroi-Sud train station) and a train journey (from Charleroi-Sud to any station in Belgium).

If you are going to Charleroi airport, ask for ticket code C61 at the train station. With this ticket, you can take the train to Charleroi-Sud station and then the TEC bus (line A – platform 2) from the station to the airport (Gosselies).

By Car

From the motorway E411 (Brussels-Luxemburg), leave the E411 at exit number 14 "Bouge-Namur". Drive 2.5 km to "Namur".

Access to the Château de Namur

Coming from Brussels, on the E411 highway, take the exit n°14 Namur-Bouge in direction of Namur/Dinant. Drive along the Meuse river in direction of Dinant.

At the 2nd trafic light (under the railway bridge), turn left. Cross the 2 roundabouts and follow the road till the 2nd road on your left.

When arrived at the top ("Reine Fabiola" Park) cross the roundabout and then the first street on your left.

The Castle is located on your left.
